According to sources, Taiwan's Pou Chen, the world's largest manufacturer of branded sports and casual shoes, may lose 6,000 positions at a Vietnam plant due to weak demand.
The officials, who were not authorised to speak to reporters, said the Pouyuen Vietnam factory will lose 3,000 positions this month and not renew 3,000 more later this year.
The Pouyen Vietnam plant provides Nike Inc. (NKE.N) and Adidas AG (ADSGn.DE) and employs 50,500 people, making it one of the largest employers in Ho Chi Minh City.
