On November 12, 2024, Air India and Vistara, both Tata Group subsidiaries, completed their merger, with Singapore Airlines (SIA) now holding a 25.1% stake in Air India.
This merger strengthens the group’s position in India’s aviation market, integrating full-service and low-cost offerings. Post-merger, Air India Group operates a fleet of 300 aircraft, serving 103 destinations with 8,300 weekly flights.
Vistara’s operations and loyalty program will fully transition to Air India by November 11, 2024. Non-flying Vistara staff will be reassigned or offered voluntary separation schemes. This aligns with SIA’s strategy, underscoring its commitment to India’s expanding aviation sector.
