Vodafone Idea (Vi) has announced offering 5G to users at no additional cost, starting with the Rs 299 prepaid plan, to compete with Airtel and Jio.
Vi aims to convert 4G users into 5G due to the increasing availability of 5G devices in the market, but doesn't offer a plan as affordable as Jio's sub-Rs 200 option.
The 5G plans from Vodafone Idea come with 300GB of FUP data that resets monthly, and the service is available in various cities without the need to change to a new SIM for existing 4G users.
Users with 2G SIMs need to upgrade to a 4G/5G SIM from Vi's retail store, and to optimize the 5G experience, Vi advises keeping the SIM in the primary slot and avoiding power-saving mode.
