Volvo is set to be the first automaker to install Google's AI chatbot, Gemini, in its cars as part of an expanded partnership with the tech giant.
Gemini will facilitate natural language conversations for drivers, offering services like language translation, navigational help, finding locations, and answering questions about the vehicle's user manual.
Cars with Android Automotive, Google's built-in system, will have access to Gemini later this year, while Android Auto users will get it sooner.
Volvo will be Google's reference hardware platform for testing future automotive technology, receiving updates before they are added to the main Android codebase.
