The Walton family, who own a significant part of Walmart, are set to launch a STEM-focused university located in Bentonville, Arkansas.
The university will be developed in collaboration with national education experts and aims to reimagine STEM education for future innovators and entrepreneurs.
The school is expected to open in the coming years with an initial undergraduate class of 500 students, eventually growing to accommodate 1,500 undergraduates and 500 nondegree learners.
This initiative is seen as a significant step towards strengthening the region's innovation capacity and workforce, addressing the need for a more robust STEM workforce for economic strength, national security, and global competitiveness.
