The Financial Conduct Authority has given lenders a year to respond to customer complaints regarding the sale of car loans.
Firms have until at least 4 December 2025 to provide a final response to agreements not involving a discretionary commission arrangement (DCA).
A court ruling in October deemed it unlawful for lenders to have paid a 'secret' commission to car dealers without informing customers and obtaining their consent.
The deadline extension will cover motor leasing as well as motor finance credit agreements.
