Waymo fills the Cruise void overseas and a salute to icon Jean Jennings

  • Jean Jennings, an automotive journalism icon and founder of Automobile Magazine, passed away at age 70. Her impact on the industry was huge, and her death prompted official statements from major organizations like Ford, showing the influence of her work.
  • The Biden administration has approved a $1.25bn loan to EVgo, which will use the funds to expand its EV charging network by installing 7,500 chargers at 1,100 locations throughout the US over the next five years.

  • Croatian autonomous drone systems developer Orqa has secured $6m in seed funding led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, with participation from Radius Capital, Decisive Point and existing investor Day One Capital.
