Specialist climate tech investor Virescent Ventures has reached the $100 million first close of its second climate technology investment fund (Fund II), with backing from Westpac and the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC).
Virescent Ventures' Fund II will focus on strategic investments in net zero startups addressing issues such as clean energy transition, decarbonizing transport, sustainable agriculture, and the circular economy.
Virescent Ventures' previous investments from the CEFC's Innovation Fund include green hydrogen startup Hysata, textiles dyeing climate tech startup Xefco, batteries recycler Renewable Metals, and soil decarbonization agtech Loam Bio.
The support of Westpac, the CEFC, and over 50 investors reflects confidence in Virescent's approach and track record, as well as the potential for Australia to be a world leader in climate technology.
