Ethereum's Pectra upgrade aims to enhance the network's scalability, lower transaction fees, and introduce new smart account functionality.
The upgrade consists of the Prague upgrade, focused on the execution layer, and the Electra upgrade, impacting the consensus layer.
The Pectra upgrade will be rolled out in two phases, with the first phase including doubling Layer-2 blob capacity, account abstraction, and increased validator staking limits.
The second phase will introduce Verkle Trees implementation and Peer Data Availability Sampling for improved data storage and scalability.
