What’s New in Entra ID in January 2025

  • Microsoft Entra ID, previously known as Azure AD, offers seamless access, easy collaboration, efficiency in IT processes, and improved security and compliance.
  • Azure AD Graph API service is being deprecated and will affect new and existing applications unless they're configured for an extension.
  • MSOnline PowerShell module will no longer be supported after March 30, 2025.
  • Microsoft Entra PowerShell will be generally available to manage and automate Entra resources programmatically.
  • Improvements in visibility into downstream tenant sign-ins to identify logins associated with partner tenants.
  • Real-time Password Spray Detection in Microsoft Entra ID Protection is now available, which reduces remediation from hours to seconds.
  • Protected actions for hard deletions allow configuring Conditional Access policies to protect against early hard deletions of users, Microsoft 365 groups, and applications.
  • Flexible Federated Identity Credentials extend the existing Federated Identity Credential model by providing ability to use wildcard matching against certain claims.
  • Elevate Access events are now exportable via Microsoft Entra Audit Logs, which improves logging capabilities that allow visibility into who in their tenant utilized Elevate Access.
  • Organizations can now manage and customize Lifecycle Workflows using natural language with Microsoft Security CoPilot.
