When Bengaluru Put Diapers on the Map

  • Kimberly-Clark has established its global digital and technology centre in Bangalore due to the city's access to highly-skilled talent and technological innovation in India.
  • The team has built an AI-enabled solution called Maestro, which has saved the company almost $250m on an annual basis.
  • Core technologies for enhancing marketing and e-commerce strategies are being developed in Bangalore with Microsoft Azure and OpenAI.
  • Products displayed on platforms like Flipkart and Amazon are being optimised using AI-generated product pages that tailor language and keywords.
  • The GCC (Global Digital Technology Centre) carries out engineering solution design, deployment, and support to enhance Kimberly-Clark's marketing and e-commerce strategies in its markets worldwide.
  • Kimberly-Clark is building its own AI solutions in Bangalore, and its Global AI Center of Excellence in the city supports projects like KC-GPT, a custom version of ChatGPT enriched with the company’s own data.
  • The Bengaluru team is also looking to streamline employee queries and data gathering with Club IQ, which is a single interface that automatically directs user questions to the right AI tool or database.
  • The investment in the Bengaluru GCC has grown eight times over in the last five and a half years in terms of revenue and almost 20 times in team size.
  • GCCs can offer greater and faster cycles of innovation and iterations, resulting in stronger stickiness and engagement compared to IT service providers or system integrator partners.
