During his tenure, IndusInd Bank's stock price surged by 120% until troubles arose including discrepancies in derivatives portfolio and microfinance accounting issues.
Kathpalia resigned in April taking moral responsibility for the issues, following the departure of the bank's deputy CEO.
He played a crucial role in expanding IndusInd Bank's consumer banking division and introducing industry-first innovations to enhance customer experience.
