Marine Corps Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer has reenlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve after 15 years as a civilian.
Meyer's decision to return to military service came after advising another Marine on reenlistment and reflecting on his own choices.
Meyer, the first Marine in 40 years to receive the Medal of Honor in 2011, felt compelled to continue to serve and sacrifice.
He has been an ambassador for the Marine Corps since leaving active duty and has been critical of the Biden administration's handling of the withdrawal from Afghanistan.
