Peak is a co-op video game about climbing mountains with friends, created during a collaborative game jam between Aggro Crab and Landfall developers.
The idea for Peak emerged from a mix of jealousy and inspiration after seeing the success of Content Warning, another game made within a month.
Aggro Crab head, Nick Kaman, and two other devs joined Landfall for a game jam in Korea after feeling inspired and intrigued by the success of Content Warning.
The initial concept for Peak was pitched in a hot tub in Sweden the year prior, focusing on a group of lost scouts on an island with macabre humor elements.
During the game jam in Korea, the team spent most of their time working on Peak, discussing ideas, and assembling makeshift workspaces at an Airbnb.
Despite the intense work environment, the developers found creating Peak to be the most enjoyable game development experience they've had.
Sales success for Peak followed its release, highlighting the accomplishment of both experienced developers, Aggro Crab and Landfall.
The quick success of Peak is not a guaranteed path to success and should not be viewed as a typical example of game development timelines.
