YouTube influencer Pilot Trevor Jacob pleads guilty to obstructing a federal investigation after intentionally crashing his plane for YouTube views, potentially facing up to 20 years in federal prison.
Jacob admits orchestrating the stunt in California to gain more views on his channel, parachuting out of the plane before it crashed.
Authorities discovered his claims of engine failure were false, as he made no effort to contact air traffic control or search for a safe landing spot.
Jacob filmed the crash, retrieved the footage, and uploaded a video titled "I Crashed My Plane," on December 23, 2021 which garnered nearly 3 million views.
