Zaha Hadid Architects has begun construction on the Asaan Misk Heritage Museum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, their first adobe project.
The museum, located within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of At-Turaif in Diriyah, draws inspiration from the Najdi architecture and uses locally produced clay mud-bricks for construction.
Part of the Diriyah Gate development masterplan, the three-storey museum features shaded courtyards reflecting traditional Najdi design and aims to promote engagement with Saudi heritage through interactive programs and conservation labs.
Backed by the Misk Foundation, the Asaan museum by Zaha Hadid Architects seeks to inspire cultural passion and empower society to connect with and celebrate Saudi identity and heritage.
