Leading restaurant aggregator and food delivery company Zomato has introduced an initiative called 'Food Rescue' to reduce food wastage caused by canceled orders.
Canceled orders within 3 kilometers of the delivery partner will be offered to nearby customers at a discounted price, ensuring the quality and freshness of the food.
Zomato aims to address the concern of food wastage, as more than 400,000 orders are canceled monthly on their platform, despite strict policies and a no-refund policy for cancellations.
Perishable items such as ice creams and shakes are not eligible for Food Rescue, but most restaurant partners have opted in and will receive compensation for the original canceled order.
