2024 Mini Aceman: Is This The Electric Mini We Actually Want?

  • The new electric Mini Aceman sits comfortably between the Cooper and the Countryman SUV in Mini's lineup.
  • It is priced at a smidge under £31,000, substantially more than a three-door Cooper.
  • Despite being an SUV, Mini outfitted the Aceman with a smart cloth-clad interior with a disc screen for infotainment and physical buttons to turn on the vehicle, select gears, and change settings.
  • Mini offers two versions of Aceman on sale right now: Aceman E and Aceman SE. The former has a 42.5kWh battery, 181bhp, and a 0-62mph time of 7.9 seconds. The latter comes with a 54.2kWh battery, 215bhp, and 0-62mph in 7.1 seconds.
  • Mini claims Aceman can travel 192 and 252 miles (WLTP) on a full battery while taking up 70 and 95 kW DC charging.
  • Aceman features Mini's 'hey Mini' voice command system and eight driving modes. The system can help by taking plenty of contextual commands to change radio stations, turn up heating, and other things. The car navigation software is accurate too.
  • Mini's steering is always a highlight. It changes with the drive modes, offers feedback that keen drivers would appreciate while not being so driver-focused that normal humans would find it a bit much.
  • The Aceman E will, apparently, manage 4.2-4.4 mi/kWh. Still, the perkier SE promises 4.2-4.5 m/kWh on the WLTP cycle. The ride quality, while fun, can get rather tiresome both for E and SE versions.
  • Despite the high price, the Mini Aceman is charming, practical, and offers all the Mini charms we've come to expect from the marque.
  • However, America's hesitance to adopt small cars means they will miss out on this charming little SUV that screams 'Ace.'
