A 26-year-old EY Pune employee, Anna Sebastian Perayil, tragically passed away due to work-related stress four months after joining the company.
Her mother, Anita Augustine, wrote to EY India's head, accusing the firm of glorifying overwork. Perayil, a Chartered Accountant, struggled with anxiety, sleeplessness, and excessive workload.
Despite these challenges, she continued working late into the night and on weekends. Her mother emphasized how Perayil’s inexperience in setting boundaries contributed to the situation. She urged EY to reassess its work culture, as her daughter’s tragic death should serve as a wake-up call for the company.
