About 3 in 5, or 63% of workers surveyed by workplace messaging app Slack said they try to keep their status "actively online," even if they're not working.
The same survey indicated that employees spend approximately 32% of their time on performative work that doesn't contribute to company and team goals.
According to the report, about 40% of meetings could be eliminated from calendars without significant consequences.
Despite the prevalence of "hustle culture" and pressure to be visibly active, there was no direct correlation found between performative work and measurable productivity gains.
