Lasertag's developer implemented continuous scene meshing on Quest 3 & 3S, eliminating the need for the room setup process and avoiding its problems.
Development on Quest 3 and Quest 3S allows users to scan their rooms, generating a 3D scene mesh for mixed reality apps to interact with physical geometry.
The Depth API provides real-time first-person depth frames up to 5 meters distance; apps like Lasertag use it for dynamic occlusion and determining laser collisions.
Meta plans to make scene meshes automatically update in the future, but Lasertag currently utilizes continuous scene understanding without a setup process.
