Apple is considering aligning its operating systems with the upcoming year following their release, akin to US car releases.
The change is likely to be confirmed at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) starting on June 9, with iOS 26 expected this fall instead of iOS 19.
Other operating systems like iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS could also follow this yearly naming approach, enhancing consistency.
Rumors indicate Apple's upcoming visual overhaul, codenamed Solarium, will bring significant design changes across all OSes, with iOS rumored to gain external display support and a redesigned Camera app.
