Poland's Ministry of Economic Development and Technology grants Ascend Elements $320 million to build a pCAM battery materials plant in the country.
Ascend Elements plans to manufacture precursor cathode active material (pCAM) for lithium-ion batteries and aims to commercialize the technology for making NMC pCAM from recycled battery materials.
The company's Hydro-to-Cathode direct pCAM synthesis technology is found to be more efficient and cleaner than traditional battery recycling methods, according to a recent life cycle assessment.
Ascend Elements, with support from the Polish government, aims to establish a sustainable battery materials supply chain in Europe by expanding its operations and introducing advanced technology in Poland.
