An asteroid named 2023 DW, estimated to be as big as an Olympic swimming pool, may collide with Earth on Valentine’s Day in 2046, according to NASA scientists.
Despite being assigned a score of 1 on the Torino scale, the chances of the asteroid hitting Earth are considered extremely unlikely with no cause for public concern.
NASA will continue to monitor the asteroid's movement and use its technology to protect the planet if necessary, including the potential use of spacecraft collision to redirect its trajectory.
