On Oct. 22, 2024, an atmospheric probe developed by researchers at NASA's Armstrong Flight Research Center in Edwards, California, completed a successful test flight.
The probe is based on NASA's 1960s research on lifting body aircraft and offers a potentially more economical way to collect data on other planets.
The test flight demonstrated the probe's stability and future plans include releasing it from a higher altitude to extend its flying time.
Photos from the test flight can be viewed for more details.
