Attack On Titan VR: Unbreakable Review-In-Progress - Decent Combat Can't Save This

  • Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable is an official VR game based on the Attack on Titan anime and manga series that has recently been released on Quest
  • Unbreakable initial release came in June 2024 consisting of two chapters and will enter full release on December 17th with the complete edition costing $19.99
  • The game is a disappointment - despite having decent combat, it fails to match up with the expectations of an official game adaptation
  • The player takes on the role of the newest recruit for the Survey Corps in a campaign consisting of five stages. The missions require the player to take down Titans within the allotted time.
  • Part one of the game features 10 missions, with Part two offering 5 chapters. This imbalance makes it seem that the developers ran out of time for the game's full release.
  • The game's co-op mode suffers from issues that may be a pointlessly restrictive design choice as playing with friends requires beating the first mission
  • The gameplay uses Omni-Directional Mobility gear and offers a fun, physical experience allowing players to swing around Titans while slicing them. However, the game becomes repetitive quite quickly.
  • Unbreakable features some poor environmental art and inconsistent visual quality that will lead to a lack of immersion for players.
  • The game currently feels underwhelming despite being enjoyable at times. The upcoming co-op mode might provide a better experience with friends
  • The game will have more missions and co-op mode in version 1.0. However, it remains to be seen if these issues will go away with the forthcoming updates.
