A British space company, Blue Skies Space, is designing a fleet of satellites to map the early universe by detecting faint radio signals from the moon's orbit.
The satellites will be able to detect these signals, which are difficult to observe from Earth due to human-made radio interference, from the shielded far side of the moon.
The Italian Space Agency has commissioned Blue Skies Space for the design project to uncover the possibility of detecting radio signals dating to the early universe.
Blue Skies Space proposes the use of CubeSats, integrated into the European Space Agency's Moonlight program, to orbit the moon and facilitate the positioning and data transmission of the astronomy observation satellites.
