A Chinese automaker, BYD, has developed a new battery, named the e-platform, that enables electric vehicles (EVs) to charge as quickly as filling a gas tank.
The e-platform battery can fully charge in just six minutes, with a peak charging power of 1,000 kilowatts, which is twice as fast as Tesla's superchargers.
The battery allows two new BYD vehicle models, Han L saloon and Tang L SUV, to travel up to 250 miles on a five-minute charge.
BYD plans to install a network of 4,000 flash charging stations across China to facilitate the launch of these fast-charging EVs.
