Cillian Murphy's upcoming film '28 Years Later' was largely shot using 20 iPhone 15 Pro Max devices simultaneously, marking the first major blockbuster to utilize iPhone cameras.
The production, with a budget of $75 million, employed custom rigs, aluminium cages, and lens attachments in addition to the iPhones for filming the British horror movie set in a post-apocalyptic era in the UK.
Oscar-winning cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle highlighted a particular scene in the film that utilized a 20-rig camera setup to achieve a unique shot with a 180-degree view of the action, creating a new visual experience for the audience.
This decision to shoot major portions of the movie on iPhones pays homage to the original '28 Days Later' (2002) film, which was shot in standard definition using a camcorder, preserving its distinct aesthetic.
