Research firm Counterpoint lowered its forecast for global smartphone shipment growth in 2025 to 1.9% from 4.2% due to uncertainties surrounding U.S. tariffs.
This downgrade indicates challenges for smartphone manufacturers amidst weakening sales, geopolitical tensions, and tariff disputes.
Counterpoint also revised year-on-year shipment growth from China to near-flat, with expectations of a slowdown in shipments for Apple and Samsung.
Apple sells over 220 million iPhones annually worldwide, with a significant portion imported to the U.S. from India and China.
