Custom firmware has been developed for cheaper Bluetooth thermometers, particularly the Xiaomi LYWSD03MMC temperature and humidity sensor.
Clones of the Xiaomi thermometer, sold under the Tuya brand, have also gained popularity and have their own open-source custom firmware.
The firmware, developed by [pvvx], offers similar capabilities as the original Xiaomi firmware, but requires a USB serial adapter for initial installation.
While the clones may be more affordable, it is suggested that it is worth paying extra for the original Xiaomi hardware due to ease of installation and display quality.
