Google is reportedly working on a desktop mode feature for Android, similar to Samsung's DeX and Motorola's Smart Connect.
The desktop mode feature, labeled as 'Android Desktop Mode,' is expected to offer multitasking capabilities with resizable windows, traditional navigation elements, and an app management system resembling desktop operating systems like Windows or Chrome OS.
The UI of the feature requires more polishing and might not be included in Android 16; it is anticipated to be launched with Android 17 on future Pixel devices.
The desktop mode will most likely require connecting the phone to an external display through the USB-C port, with potential for wireless connectivity in the future, possibly starting as an exclusive feature for Pixel phones before expanding to other Android devices.
