Google Cloud Migration Center is a platform built to streamline cloud journey with intelligent, data-driven insights and recommendations.
Migration center allows discovery and assessment of servers and databases, critical components of an IT infrastructure.
Discovery and collection of database details are collected using open-source scripts for Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
Once the script is run, an archive of extracted data from the configuration and metrics is generated for each database instance, which can be uploaded into Migration Center.
The technical fit assessment evaluates and surfaces the high-level details of the discovered database deployments and the target instance sizing.
The technical fit score shows the unsupported features/parameters/flags that have been detected in the source databases and will need to be remedied while migrating to Cloud SQL or AlloyDB.
The cost estimate process involves grouping together servers and/or databases, creating migration preferences, and then generating TCO reports.
Creating groups that categorize the source environment is recommended in order to create groups for assessing the desired pricing reports.
To generate a TCO report, you can assign up to four migration preferences as input to each group.
In the TCO report, you can review cost estimates for servers and databases alongside environment details, and export reports in Google Slides or CSV formats.
