UK MPs are summoning Elon Musk, along with executives from TikTok and Meta, to testify about X's role in spreading disinformation and harmful content during the summer riots.
The parliamentary inquiry will investigate the consequences of generative AI, as well as the business models of social media platforms that encourage the spread of misleading and harmful content.
Musk has previously been rebuked by national leaders for his inflammatory tweets, including accusing Australia of censorship and making controversial comments about the UK criminal justice system.
It is uncertain if Musk or other senior figures will actually appear before the committee.
