The European Union (EU) has proposed the launch of digital passports and identity cards, known as the EU Digital Travel app, by 2030.
The digitalization of passports and identity cards aims to speed up border controls and ensure smoother and secure travel within the Schengen area.
The EU Digital Travel app will allow travelers to create and store their digital travel credentials, including information from the chip of their passport or ID card.
The digital passports will improve security, enhance border controls' efficiency, enable smoother crossings, and reduce administrative burdens for EU citizens.
