Long-time fans of Civilization game series who got early access to Civilization 7 for paying $100 are calling the new game 'unfinished' which is a harsh first impression for new changes that came along with the game?
New features such as streamlined resource management, societal development, crisis events, mixing and matching leaders and civilizations have been well received so far.
But the Civ 7 seems to have a poor start with reviews being 'mixed' and the current Steam reviews with less than 47% being positive.
Players are particularly frustrated with the UI being a major issue as Civ is a dense strategy game and poor menu layout, navigation and conveying information can be a death sentence.
Some players believe the problem is the game being designed with more of a console focus, leading towards suboptimal UI design choices for PC players.
Civ 7 currently sits at 81 on Metacritic, which while generally positive, is the lowest for the series in some time. The developers at Firaxis have responded to the complaints in a blog post on improving the UI among other areas.
Firaxis’ parent company, Take-Two, has acknowledged the issues and has stated that the team was working on improving UI and that Civ 7's initial launch wasn't perfect.
