Demis Hassabis, a London-born individual of Greek Cypriot and Chinese Singaporean descent, displayed exceptional intellect from a young age, excelling in chess tournaments since the age of four.
Earning money from chess competitions, Hassabis purchased his first computer, a ZX Spectrum 48K, and self-taught computer coding, becoming skilled in game programming.
Co-authoring the popular simulation video game Theme Park with Peter Molyneux, Hassabis garnered success, selling several million copies and funding his education at Queen’s College, Cambridge.
Post-graduation, Hassabis worked at Lionhead Studios as a lead AI programmer, contributing to the development of the 2001 game Black & White.
