NASA has unveiled a new Mars-simulation habitat in Houston, Texas, in which volunteers will live for a year at a time to test what life will be like on future missions to Mars.
The habitat, called "Mars Dune Alpha," includes four small rooms, a gym, and a lot of red sand.
It also has a vertical farm to grow salad, a room dedicated to medical care, an area for relaxing, and several workstations.
NASA plans to monitor the physical and mental health of volunteers to better understand resource use on Mars.
The habitat was 3D-printed, and NASA sees it as a potential technology for building habitats on other planetary or lunar surfaces.
