Global battery storage deployments reached nearly 9 GWh in April, reports Rho Motion.
China and Chile led battery storage deployments in a more evenly distributed scene than in previous months, but a lower overall total was installed at grid-scale.
Market intelligence firm Rho Motion tracked nearly 9 GWh of new global battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity entering commercial operations in April 2025, from a total of 3,333 MW/8,890 MWh of grid-scale projects.
According to Rho Motion's data, the April capacity was 13% higher than in the same period in 2024, marking the lowest deployment month in 2025 so far, with global deployments more evenly distributed across geolocations.
