Google has announced that support for first- and second-generation Nest Learning Thermostats will end in October 2025, disabling connected features.
After October 25, 2025, affected devices won't receive software updates or connect to Google's cloud services, but basic temperature control and scheduling will still work locally.
Users in the U.S. can upgrade to newer Nest models with a $130 discount on the fourth-generation Nest, while European customers are offered a 50 percent discount on the Tado Smart Thermostat X as Google won't develop new European thermostats.
This decision comes after Google recently discontinued other Nest products and follows job cuts in its platform and devices division, despite some Nest thermostats exceeding the standard five-year support commitment.
