Google is collaborating with Samsung to introduce a desktop mode to Android, following Samsung's DeX platform foundation.
The desktop mode features enhanced windowing capabilities in Android 16, with apps like Gmail, Chrome, YouTube, and Google Photos displayed in a taskbar at the bottom of the screen.
Apps in Android 16's adaptive mode can be moved and stretched across the screen, offering a layout similar to Samsung DeX.
The update aims to make apps more adaptable to various devices, including foldables, tablets, Chromebooks, mixed reality wearables, and cars.
