Harpenden pupils try out VR learning resource Future Forests

  • Year 4 pupils at Wood End School in Harpenden are among the first in the UK to try the Future Forests Toolkit, a new VR learning resource designed to bring environmental issues to life in the classroom.
  • The toolkit, developed by Avantis Education and the Rainforest Foundation UK, immerses children in the Amazon rainforest to help them understand the impact of human activity on the natural world.
  • Through the ClassVR headsets, pupils explore scenarios of deforestation, habitat destruction, sustainability, and regeneration, encouraging them to consider the consequences of human actions on ecosystems.
  • Feedback from pupils has been positive, with students expressing enjoyment in choosing and understanding different futures for the rainforest, highlighting the importance of education in raising awareness about environmental issues.
