Apple has released the first macOS Tahoe developer beta for testing ahead of its official fall release.
Anyone can download it by registering with the Apple Developer program.
The macOS Tahoe update introduces a major redesign with a new Liquid Glass interface and various new features.
New features include the Phone app on Mac, improved Spotlight actions, Apple Intelligence integration, Games app, and customizable Messages backgrounds.
Live Activities from iPhone are now accessible on the Mac's menu bar.
However, installing beta software on your main Mac is not recommended due to potential bugs and issues.
A spare Mac is suggested for testing beta updates.
macOS Tahoe is compatible with specific Mac models like MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac mini, and others.
Certain older Mac models are not supported by macOS Tahoe.
It is essential to backup your Mac using Time Machine before proceeding with the installation.
To install macOS Tahoe Developer Beta, register with the Apple Developer Program, access System Settings ➝ General ➝ Software Update, and choose macOS Tahoe 26 Developer Beta.
Click on Upgrade Now to update your Mac to macOS 26.
The installation process will be similar to a regular macOS update.
Make sure to allow the installation to finish, and your Mac will boot into the macOS Tahoe beta afterward.
