After sending a WhatsApp message, you might see a single (✓) or double tick.
Single tick: The message has been sent from your end.
Double tick (gray): The message has been delivered to the recipient’s phone or other devices where they have set up WhatsApp.
Double tick (blue): The recipient has seen or read the delivered message.
To check the timestamp, swipe left on the message on iPhone.
On Android, touch and hold the message and tap info icon.
For bundled images & videos, tap the bundle and hold individual media to know when it was viewed.
Reasons read receipts may not appear include turned off read receipts, no internet connection, recipient's phone turned off, message ignored and blocked user.
Read receipts work for group messages and give a 'seen' timestamp for those who have left the group.
The read receipt resets to three dots (...) when a message is edited.
