China's Huawei has begun staffing its massive new research campus in the Shanghai suburb as it seeks to bolster home-grown technology efforts.The Lianqiu Lake campus covers an area of 395 acres and is expected to grow to a population of 35,000.The facility aims to develop home-grown technologies to reduce China's dependence on imported systems.The campus will serve as Huawei's global R&D hub and focus on semiconductors, wireless networks, IoT, smartphones, automobiles, and energy.
