Hyundai's Georgia EV Metaplant near Savannah, Georgia plans to produce 500,000 fully electric and hybrid cars per year, up from the original plan of 300,000.
The Metaplant is already producing the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 9 electric SUVs, and plans to have 40% of the cars made at the plant be from the Kia brand.
The factory is projected to generate over 14,000 jobs and is one of the world's most advanced car factories with a high degree of automated manufacturing and robotic labor.
Despite uncertainties in the American auto industry, Hyundai's goal is to circumvent any tariffs on foreign-made cars and take advantage of the opportunity in the American market.
