James Webb telescope spots Milky Way's long-lost 'twin' — and it is 'fundamentally changing our view of the early universe'

  • The galaxy, named Zhélòng, is estimated to have formed about 1 billion years after the Big Bang.
  • Zhélòng features a central bulge of old stars, a vibrant disk of young stars, and two distinct spiral arms.
  • The discovery challenges current theories of cosmology which predict that large galaxies like Zhélòng should take several billion years to form.
