Kena, an Italian mobile operator, has introduced the possibility of identifying the owner of the SIM purchased remotely via SPID (Public Digital Identity System).
Customers can purchase a Kena offer online or through the 181 Customer Service operator and activate the SIM comfortably from home.
Once the SIM has been received by post, customers can choose to activate it using their SPID credentials or with a short video for identification.
This improvement reduces the time taken to verify video identification, and the SIM will be active immediately or within a few hours.
The same modality was introduced by TIM last year for customers of the main brand.
AGCOM approved the use of SPID and other digital identity systems to activate a SIM to simplify the procedures for activating or changing SIMs, including Mobile Number Portability (MNP).
This method is available by purchasing a Kena offer by phone through Customer Service 181, and new Kena customers can always choose home delivery with identification by courier or collection and activation directly at the tobacconist.
Kena recommends preparing, in addition to the SPID credentials, a photo of the SIM or QR Code of the eSIM of the old operator, photo of the identity document, health card or tax code and mobile contact number indicated during the purchase.
In both cases of video identification and SPID identification, the customer will then have to sign the contract digitally by selecting the signature fields and entering a temporary password (OTP), which concludes the procedure.
With Kena, customers can use TIM’s network in 2G and 4G LTE.
