Kia America is implementing a hail protection system at its Georgia factory that doubles as a solar plant to prevent damage caused by hailstorms.
The system integrates 17,000 solar panels capable of providing up to 30% of the factory's power needs, aligning with Kia's goal to reduce carbon emissions and transition to renewable energy.
The hail protection system is designed by Vehicle Protection Structures and will help Kia qualify for sustainable infrastructure tax credits.
The system is expected to be completed by early next year and will cover the production of models like the EV6 and EV9 electric vehicles and Sorento, Sportage, and Telluride crossovers.
