Mercedes-Benz has revealed a new photovoltaic paint that could extend the range of electric vehicles. The nanoparticle-based paint can be applied directly to the body of an EV, reducing dependence on external charging. The paint converts light energy into an electrical charge through the photovoltaic effect, allowing up to 7,456 miles of extra range per year.Mercedes-Benz claims that the paint coating can generate enough electricity to cover most daily driving needs.
